Action Bulletin: Tomorrow – And This Wednesday Aug 22nd: Get Involved In The Municipal Election!!

BILL 5 THREATENS DEMOCRACY AT CITY HALL! Be at City Hall 9:30 am on Monday!

Doug Ford’s Conservatives passed Bill 5 to cut Toronto Council from 47 to 25 seats. This Monday (Aug. 20), Toronto Council will decide whether to take legal action to fight it. The City’s legal staff seem to have given up already! They see “no obvious path” to fighting this — but many lawyers do! One of them already has a court date on Aug. 31. This is worth fighting for!

Please tell Mayor Tory and Council to vote to get  independent legal counsel  with expertise! We need real  advocates  — legal bulldogs — who will fight like they mean to win!

Be at City Hall tomorrow if you can - and send a letter tonight.

If you know the councillor's name, the email address will be . Please also cc the Mayor at Click here  to find your councillor’s name.
Dear City Councillor,

At Monday's meeting (item CC45.1), I insist that you stand up to Doug Ford by voting for — and encouraging other councillors to vote for — the city hiring independent expert legal counsel to defend our democracy and challenge Bill 5 in court.
City legal staff said they see "no obvious path” to fight this, but many other lawyers have strong arguments — one of them already has a court date on Aug. 31. We need real advocates — legal bulldogs — who are determined to win!
It’s your job! FIGHT FOR TORONTO!
