CLIMATE CHANGE IS BEING DEBATED IN THE HOUSE ON THURSDAYAFTERNOON!

That's tomorrow, Oct 25th.  Please arrive at 1 pm for the debate will start at 1:15 pm. Bring your ID, we are being invited to sit in the members’ gallery.

The Bill is a private members bill by MPP Peter Tabuns, it’s Bill 37, https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-42/session-1/bill-37,

The Act provides that a fossil fuel producer is strictly liable for climate-related harms that occur in Ontario if the producer is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions at a globally detectable level.

This is a  bold step and should be supported by all the parties.  Let's show support by being there, or you can email your MPP and let them know you want them to vote for it.

YOUTH RALLY FOR CLIMATE ACTION OCTOBER 17th

ClimateFast and other groups were excluded from the hearings on Bill 4.  In particular the youth voice was missing.  So we brought the youth voice, and other voices, including that of an entrepreneur, physicians, and international development researcher, to the steps of the Legislature. Our blog and photos are here

HOLD THE DATE! WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 14TH - we will have a meeting with a dual purpose

1) learning about what needs to be including in a meaningful climate action plan - presenters Keith Stewart of Greenpeace, and 3 other presenters

2) preparation for being on a delegation to meet with your MPP to lobby for meaningful climate action plan, and letter to the editor writing skills.

If we are to change the conversation about climate we need to informed and speaking out!

Friends House, 60 Lowther Ave. 6:30 pm – 8 pm – panel presentation, 8:00 – 9:00 training in meeting with your MP and writing letters to the editor.

Stay tuned for our next newsletter for election analysis and next steps.

Please note: we usually send monthly newsletters with the occasional additional action alert. We have had several action alerts this fall because of the election and the bills taking down the climate action programs of the province (Bill 4 and more) There is so much happening with climate action this fall – and it’s so urgent. As indicated in the IPCC report we have 12 years – 12 years! – to turn around off fossil fuels and onto a conservation and renewable energy path – so these are the reasons for frequent action alerts and updates this fall. Please stay on our list! Things will slow down a bit now. And thank you very much for everything you do for our shared climate future. Together we can really make a difference.

Thank you!
