We must say NO to AI data centres in Ontario NOW before it is too late! AI data centres are being planned in the name of "economic growth" without consideration for people, public health, the environment, treaty rights, risks to unemployment (particularly for youth), and privacy/surveillance.
In addition, the independence of both the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has been compromised through Bill 40 (passed in December 2025) and Bill 165 (2024).  We cannot afford to have further centralization of decision-making power in our energy system, with politicians acting in the interests of corporations and the oil and gas sector. Energy Minister Stephen Lecce (MPP King-Vaughan) and Premier Doug Ford must listen to Ontarians by repealing Bills 40, 165 and 5, and immediately imposing a moratorium on AI data centres across Ontario.

Asking for a moratorium is not radical. It does not make logical sense to say 'yes' to development without understanding the full impact of AI data centres. We must say 'no' until there is full transparency, the proper regulations are in place, consultation is guaranteed, and the direct and indirect impacts are accounted for.

Send an action letter to your local councillor, MPP, Mayor, Doug Ford, Stephen Lecce, and others demanding an immediate pause to AI data centre development in ON: https://win.newmode.net/climatefast/moratoriumonaidatacentresinontario
