HAVE YOU MADE A VOTING PLAN?

It's time to VOTE!! Monday, October 26 is municipal election day here in Ontario - don't miss your chance to have your say. Often we get busy and 'non-essentials' drop off the radar - so make a plan for this Monday - a plan that includes the very essential step of going to the poll and marking your ballot.

If you're in Toronto and don't know where to vote, check here using your postal code https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/elections/voter-information/myvote/. You'll find all you need to know re: identification to take with you, opening hours (10am - 8 pm), accessibility, etc. If you see a friend/neighbour who hasn't voted yet, support each other by going to the poll together.

If you don't know who to vote for, check the ClimateFast-built resources linked below...

ClimateFast’s Climate Voting Records team assessed all incumbent councillors based on the number of times they voted 'yes' on climate-positive actions. Report cards are green (best) or, if they were frequently absent or voted 'no,' their report cards are yellow or red. Check your councillor’s report card grades by clicking on their headshot here: https://votingrecords.climatefast.ca/

ClimateFast's The Wards Project teams met with candidates and had fulsome conversations to find out where they stand on climate and environmental policy. Teams also helped candidates see that most of the issues impacting their wards could be helped through investing in climate action including affordability, health impacts of extreme weather, transportation, and soaring energy costs. Through the summaries, voters are able to see how a candidate plans to represent them at City Hall - and compare them (apples to apples) with the other candidates. Summaries of these climate-focused conversations are here: https://thewardsproject.com/elections.

Elections are pivotal: they dictate who’s making decisions about our city for the next four years. So take this opportunity you have to support climate champions for mayor and council!  Get out and VOTE!!  It's our democratic right and privilege and ... EVERY VOTE COUNTS (especially when the race is tight!)
