Election. Drawdown. Metamorphosis.

Dear friends for climate action,

Disappointed in Thursday’s provincial election results?   So were we.  Ontario did not elect a provincial government that is supportive of climate action.  What the impact will be on Toronto’s climate action plan, TransformTO, we do not yet know.

However we do know that it’s as urgent as ever to work for transformation of our future to renewable energy.  In the next part of our campaign we will turn our attention to the municipal election. Stay tuned for future steps.  For now we wanted to let you know about the following:

THIS WEEK we highly recommend the new film Metamorphosis, running through Thursday JUNE 14TH at the Carlton Cinema 1:30 and 7 pm.

JUNE 13TH a new course based on the book Drawdown, by Paul Hawken starts.  The Drawdown program is very inspiring, very practical and very helpful for connecting us together to work on specific projects and areas of work within the climate action framework.  JUNE 19TH is an introductory evening on Drawdown, and on July 25th there will be a summit on ENERGY as part of the Drawdown initiative.  For more info go to: http://www.unifytoronto.ca/events

A poem for the planet, Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper's film Metamorphosis takes the pulse of our earth and bears witness to a moment of profound change: the loss of one world, and the birth of another. Metamorphosis captures the true scale of the global environmental crisis. Forest fires consume communities, species vanish, and entire ecosystems collapse. Economic growth, tied to increased speed of resource extraction, has created a machine with the capacity to destroy all life. But this crisis is also an opportunity for transformation. Through a tidal flow of stunning images, Metamorphosis carves a path from the present to the future, and offers a bold new vision for humanity and the world.
