PEOPLE’S CLIMATE PLAN FOR ONTARIO! The comment period closes Monday, January 28

TELL QUEEN'S PARK YOU WANT A PEOPLES CLIMATE PLAN!
Many of you were part of forums we hosted on November 14 to encourage submissions to the consultation for a ‘Made in Ontario’ climate plan, and on December 8 when we reported on what’s in (and not in) the provincial climate plan. Some members of ClimateFast and DrawdownTO met to put together a people’s climate plan based on excellent submissions that the Ontario government seems to have completely ignored. The province’s plan is an anti-climate, corporate friendly plan - not a people’s plan. Now is the time to have your say and call for a REAL People’s Climate Plan for Ontario.

SEND THIS LETTER TO DOUG FORD AND YOUR MPP NOW!

Our plan been posted on this webpage: www.climatefast.ca/peoples-climate-plan  - and we’ve made it easy for you to send a letter supporting this plan to the politicians at Queen’s Park - including your MPP - via LeadNow’s link  https://act.leadnow.ca/MPP-peoples-climate-plan-ontario/

PLEASE SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA!
Please sign and share with everyone you know! It’s especially important to reach out to people living and working in areas outside of Toronto, so please help us do that by sending this link to your family and friends. And if you use social media, please tweet, post on FB, and send emails!

SEND YOUR COMMENTS!
You can read the current Ontario plan and submit your own comments on it  here . You will need to set up an account. That just takes a few minutes, then you can send your comments in  before the deadline: Monday, January 28 .

Check our  webpage  for supplementary material and references.

CAPE (Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment)  have prepared useful background information and action links  here

The People’s Climate Plan: Information & Action at the Noor Cultural Centre! Jan 24 7pm
Learn more and submit your comments on the plan on the spot!.  https://www.facebook.com/events/1147856925384163/

Unfortunately, it’s not enough to submit comments. We need to build pressure on MPPs directly. The government as a whole can ignore public input, as it has done so far. Even though 99% of the public comments on Bill 4 to end cap-and-trade were  in favour  of keeping that program – people’s opinions were ignored. Click this link:  GREENPEACE INVESTIGATION SHOWS 99% OF PUBLIC COMMENTS FAVOURED SAVING CAP AND TRADE

So go on the record - but also send  this letter  to the Premier , the Environment Minister, other politicians including  your own MPP  - they need to hear from  LOTS  of us to know that indeed their constituents believe there’s a climate emergency and that we want to see action.

AND THERE’S AN EVEN EARLIER DEADLINE - CONSULTATION FOR BILL 66  - that threatens the Greenbelt. So please take action on this one  before Sunday January 20 th . LeadNow petition  here More background from Environmental Defence  here,  and a 2 nd  petition here .
