Two guest speakers will be joining ClimateFast to help explain what AI data centres are and how they work. The first 30 minutes will be a 101 presentation on data centres and then the remainder of the time will be Q&A for attendees to ask questions.
Melica is an AI practitioner with 8 years of experience in data science and machine learning. She’s spent her career researching, building, and evaluating human‑centric intelligent systems for the news, tax, and legal industries while staying mindful of privacy, fairness, and regulatory constraints. She strives to educate non‑technical audiences about how new technologies affect their lives and to examine the tech industry through a critical lens.
Samir is a research scientist at the University of Toronto. He holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on interventions for sustaining knowledge production institutions, like Wikipedia, or local news outlets, that have been disrupted by generative AI. He also studies how algorithmic management systems can exacerbate harm to marginalized populations in the labor market.
Join us on January 28th to hear from two tech scientists and bring any tech-related questions you have for the Q&A portion.
This is a free event and all are welcome. A zoom link will be shared with registrants.
