For some planning guides to help tailor and craft a conversation, see Conversation Mapping Exercise for Potential Hosts and Facilitators. The table below combines suggested steps for pre-planning, conversation design and event planning.

All in One Planning Template

1. Take a look at the KTCC suggested agenda and resources
2. Who to invite? (family, rotary)
3. How to approach?
4. Potential Theme or Entrance Point?
5. Conduct Community Research & Outreach to potential attendees (survey, what’s relevant to participants, what’s happening already)
6. Revisit 2 - 4 above
7. Design conversation:

Introductions

Part 1: Crisis & Impacts (why important, urgency)

Part 2: Collective Action (power of working together, positive story)

Part 3: Processing Emotion (coping)

Part 4-1: Areas for Change (i.e. climate plans/emissions, equity)

Part 4-2: Actions and Solutions (brainstorms, idea-sharing, what can be done, what is being done); Envisioning a Better World
8. Research potential "What’s Next" steps (groups to join, actions to support, lobbying)
9. Decide on what Good Outcomes would look like (second convo, more KTCCs, taking action)
10. Set firm date and venue for conversation and send invitations
11. Assemble resources needed (edited slides, local photos, script)
12. Do a rehearsal on your own or with tech support
13. Enjoy the conversation!
14. Be sure to follow-up with your attendees.
15. Touch base with the KTCC team to let them know how it went! : )
Reach out for any help needed from KTCC team at any time (facilitation, tech support, research support)
