The federal election has been called for September 20, 2021.

This election it is critically important for dealing effectively with the climate emergency and setting Canada on a path towards a climate-safe future. Over the summer the media has reported on intense heat waves, droughts and devastating wildfires in Canada and around the world. Both the Assessment 6 Report of Working Group 1 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), released on August 9th, and the urgent Net Zero by 2020 call to action from the International Energy Agency (IEA), paint a grim future if we do not take immediate action. Climate solutions have become a priority for Canadians voters. However, little has been done so far and greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise. During this election period we need to call on all parties to communicate their plans for rapid and deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Climatefast is part of a coalition of groups working on putting climate at the forefront of this election.  If you would like to volunteer to join the team, sign up here. Order flyers, buttons and door hangers and find instructions for making your own lawnsign at teamclimate2021.wordpress.com.  For more information email lyn[at]climatefast.ca.
