Toronto, Ontario, September 23rd - On September 23rd from 7-9pm, the day of the UN Climate Summit in New York City, ClimateFast, along with co-sponsors Greenpeace and Fridays For Future, will host youth speakers as they share their seven demands from ClimateStrike Canada’s “Emergency Platform for Climate Justice,” at 60 Lowther Avenue, Toronto.

Allie Rougeot, a climate strike organizer with Fridays For Future is moderating and presenters include Vanessa Gray of Aamjiwnaang First Nation, Yasmeen Peer and Alex Speers-Roesch of Greenpeace, Rachel Parent of Kids Right to Know, Linden Thomas of Fridays for Future, Roxy Cohen, and Kelly Husack.

As the Fridays For Future website says and the Climate Strikers are asking, “Why study for a future that isn’t there?” In Allie’s words, “the school strike movement is unprecedented: we are not even striking for a better life, but simply for a chance to live.” Their demands encompass environmental rights, indigenous rights, a just transition separation of oil and state, and urgent actions to reduce emissions.

For more information about the Climate Strike demands, see Fridays For Future's website.

Co-sponsored by ClimateFast and Greenpeace.
