LET’S GET VOCAL FOR CLIMATE ACTION!   ‘Voice of Ontarians for Carbon Accountability and Leadership’

CLIMATEFAST PROVINCIAL STRATEGY MEETING ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH – 6:30 PM – FRIENDS HOUSE, 60 LOWTHER AVE. near St. George and Bloor – help us plan for actions to stop Bill 4, the Cap and Trade cancellation act. Bring your ideas!

All welcome to strategize a campaign for real climate action at the provincial level.

Bill 4 will cut the cap and trade program and will cut funds from hospitals schools and the TransformTO program at the city of Toronto that were allocated for energy conservation and the transition to renewables.

It will cut hundreds of projects and thousands of jobs out of the Ontario economy, and shut down wind generation that was ready to start up. All with NO consultation!

We call on the government to stop subsidizing carbon pollution and LEAD in the transition to a renewable energy future.  Please join us! www.climatefast.ca

We'll be planning a demo tentatively for Wednesday September 26th, two days after the Legislature resumes, from 12 - 1, to fight Bill 4, the anti-climate-action Bill.  Please save the date!

ON WEDNESDAY SEPT 12TH AT 8 PM HEAR AN UPDATE ON THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN at 60 Lowther Ave. The decision about 47 or 25 wards will have been made the day before, Sept. 11th.  Come and learn about campaigns that are focusing on strong action by the city on the TransformTO plan. The Toronto Council Renewal Project (TCRP) will provide an update and we will learn about campaigns where climate action is the key concern and how we can elect more climate leaders for City Hall on October 22nd.

THEATRE WORKSHOP

On a hot summer night in August we held a participatory theatre workshop on the climate crisis with Pavla Uppal Using . 20 folks had the opportunity to express our feelings about the crisis and our government's inaction.    The experience was amazing.  You can see the glow on our faces afterward – read our blog post here! Read the report on this fun event on our news page: http://www.climatefast.ca/climatefast-news

Will you be near Spadina and Bloor on Sunday September16th?  Visit our booth at Open Streets! 10 am to 2 pm. Drop by! If you can help us table, email volunteer@climatefast.ca.
